Surely this is an example of the key issues being discussed in Australia. The Government puts up a package that is demonstrably inadequate (by any measure) and numerous groups clamour over themselves to say how it is not great but better than nothing.... unfortunately it is so close to nothing it is pointless. It is time that the NGOs actually put a line in the sand and demanded appropriate, acceptable action. Thankfully the Greens appear to be doing so

I think we need to have it in place sooner rather than later. Australia has an opportunity to become a leader and go to Copenhagen with some legislation in place. I don't expect the government to get it 100% correct straight away but without the certainty businesses are in a holding pattern and nothing is really getting done about it.
