Creating a better future
Rocco Papalia, Senior Vice President of PepsiCo’s Advanced Research Division, speaks to the Sustainable Business 2011 Conference (SB'11) about food packaging technology and the challenges of transforming a petroleum-based package into a renewable and degradable product.
At Sustainable Brands 2011, PepsiCo Senior Vice President Advanced Research Division Rocco Papalia tells the story of Sun Chips biodegradable bag, which experienced pushback from consumers for being noisy -- despite being compostable and therefore environmentally preferable.
He shares the difficulties of physically turning bio-degradable material into a chip bag, communicates their marketing approaches and how they fared with consumers, and shares lessons learned from their experience.
