Creating a better future

The Shweeb the Future of Eco Transport?

Every now and then something truly unique and innovative comes along. I am happy to say that this one is from my home country New Zealand and is a pedal-powered monorail called "The Shweeb".

This is the first human powered monrail and passengers pedal what is best described as a bicycle in an aerodynamic capsule. You can get speeds up to 70kph and you don't have the usual problem of dodging traffic as you are suspended on a fixed track.

Although the Shweeb is currently only used in a fun park it has caught the attention of Google who have invested US$1 Million to help further develop the Shweed for wider use. The owners also have big plans for this zero-emission transport system which includes stations where you can jump into your pod and pedal to work along a network of rails, swtiches, bridges and even escalator type tramways to transport you up hill. With plans to announce the location of the first transit Shweeb for public use in the near future I think this is a very exciting innovation to keep an eye on.

I am heading to Rotorua in December to catch up with family and I will be trying out the Shweeb for myself. Please take a look at the video below and and keep an eye out for my Shweeb report later on this year.

Whether or not the Shweeb is the future of transport, it sure looks like fun!
Yike bike looks pretty cool too.
FYI here's a more standard product that's still pretty nice - electric scooter from Smart: http://tinyurl.com/2f5r6xa

With the generous government rebates due to reduce mid year, the fact of the matter is that everyone should look into making the switch to solar…See More
