Human resources managers know it. New graduates know it - opportunities abound in the new green economy. It appears that all kinds of engineers, scientists and architects are taking jobs with companies at at the forefront of the energy and emissions business. With oil prices near record highs and more companies concerned about their carbon footprints, workers are on the lookout for employees who have a commitment to sustainability or who have taken an obvious climate change stand, like moving towards carbon neutrality. Forbes Magazine noted (3 July 2007) the dramatic rise in green jobs in the US - these are not necessarily totally new professions, but specialties developing within professions, The article draws attention to jobs like sustainability coordinators and emissions brokers as ones specific to the climate change era. Gartners, the IT analysts and advisers conducted a survey on what are the latest, hottest jobs in the industry. Those with a green tinge scored the highest by a big margin. Companies are hiring scientist to work on renewable-energy technology and business people to market earth-friendly products. If investment is set to grow by big strides, so will demand for people with the skills and capability in the green business.
