A few weeks ago as part of some research into sustainability websites I first encountered Change2.
I was initially excited and - to a certain extent I still am - that there is a social network for people interested in sustainability.
In Change2's own words on this site: "The Change2 network is a free central resource on sustainability that brings together individuals, business, government and NGOs."

Yes you are exactly right, we are a vendor who runs a community site. We develop online behaviour change training and associated tools. The idea of the social network was originally to merely provide a support network for our products. We then realised that what we were developing would provide a valuable resource to the broader community, so we decided to make it public and see what happens.
So far reaction to is has been great, and so we are happy to continue supporting it.
Although as far as I know we don't have any direct competitors selling an identical solution, there certainly are other businesses involved in sustainability education and staff engagement, and several of them have active members on this site. We expect them to act with the same standards that we do. That is, if what they do on a commercial basis is relevant to a conversation, then by all means talk about it. But don't spam or use this site as a soap box for commercial interests.
Presently, we don't run advertising on the site. If we do it will be transparent and obvious as advertising, and separate from content. We'll probably put a link to our commercial website or a page about our solution on this site at some point, which I feel is quite reasonable.
Thanks for your suggestions and support of the site. I hope the discussion you've started gets some response.
