Australia aims to achieve CO2e reductions through an “Emissions Trading System” (ETS). Emissions Trading Systems have been successfully implemented in many parts of the world over the last decade, with the largest being the EU ETS. All EU countries have been covered by the EU ETS since January 2005. The Australian Government has proposed an ETS called the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, or CPRS. Introduction of the CPRS is currently being debated. |
