When I had this idea the challenge was ; I had to bring a NEW water resource to the dry interior, then build upon this to power the east coast cities .However the recent rains and La Nina cycle have taken the urgency away, scientists still claim the Murray Darling food bowl will decline in productivity by 93% by 2050. Do we need to wait for a disaster until Australia looks deeper into the provision of the, (finite), scarce resource WATER ? If we wait to make a knee jerk reaction on the issue then ,(I suspect),we will have only short term ideas to relieve the immediate ,(human),needs. Then there is the impact on food & fiber .Will we be a major importer of food? What will our ability to 'feed the world' be like with a 90% reduction in the major food bowl of the Murray Basin,(with its rich soils ?). Dry ! Or do we have delusions that the wet north will provide the lost production ( with it's poor soils and high annual rainfall )? Or do we invest in the 'other' delusion of piping water from the north to the south ( rob Peter to pay Paul ) where the enviroment of the north is drained to feed the dry south? I believe I came up with a concept that addresses both the water needs of a dry continent and the electricity needs of all east coast cities ( capable of being reproduced in other Aust' cities ) thus rendering Australia carbon neutral and drought proofed using current technologys that will need to be downsized.
