I wrote this idea I had to bring a new resource to the dry interior, however the recent rains and La Nina cycle have taken the urgency away, scientists still claim the Murray Darling food bowl will decline in productivity by 93% by 2050. Do we need to wait for a disaster until Australia looks deeper into the provision of the, (finite), scarce resource WATER ? If we wait to make a knee jerk reaction on the issue then ,(I suspect),we will have only short term ideas to relieve the immediate ,(human),needs. Then there is the impact on food & fiber .Will we be a major importer of food? What will our ability to 'feed the world' be like with a 90% reduction in the major food bowl of the Murray Basin,(with its rich soils ?). Dry !
